Message Title: Why Should I Believe the Bible is the Word of God?

Text: 2 Peter 1:16-21

 

1. The Bible is God’s Word because it says it is

1 Thessalonians 2:13

 

2. The Bible is God’s Word because of its historical accuracy

1 Corinthians 15:3-6

 

3. The Bible is God’s Word because it accurately predicts the future

 

4. The Bible is God’s Word because it gives the best explanation for the world

Ephesians 1:10

 

5. The Bible is God’s Word because of its supernatural unity

2 Peter 1:16-21 ESV

For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

 

1 Thessalonians 2:13 ESV

And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.

 

1 Corinthians 15:3-6 ESV

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep.
